Second Try for a Trammel Creek Wade

Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 - 9:00am

Rained out on our first try, let's cross our fingers for some clear weather and water for Trammel Creek this time around. Since it is stocked each month from April through October with an annual release of over 8000 rainbows and 400 browns hook ups should be no problem even in the heat of the summer. Your choice:  breathable waders or wet wading. Trammel is a jewel of a stream. Second only to Rock Creek. Filled with nice riffles, long gravel filled runs and deep pools some holding browns up to 20 inches this is a great stream to fish with both dries, nymphs and for the spin fishermen small spinner baits. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife wishing to further improve trout habitat has begun major stream improvements. Entering the stream is very easy with two access spots about 0.9 miles apart, with great fishing water all along the stretch.

Directions:
Traveling south on I-65 approaching the TN border turn left at exit 38 onto KY101 towards Scottsville. Drive about 21 miles, and in Scottville KY 101 miraculously becomes KY 100. Drive south 0.2 miles on KY 100 and turn left (southeast) onto KY 2160 (Old Hartsville Road). Drive 5.5 miles and turn right  onto well marked Concord Church Road. Just as you cross over Trammel Creek park in the visible slots. We will meetup there.  Driving time is about 2-1/2 hours from Lexington.
