Pools: Time of day and water temps will dictate tactics, however, running streamers along areas where shallows/sandbars meet deeper water is a great producer in the spring and fall. Slowly bottom bouncing small heavy flies works well in the winter and summer.

Islands (above water): Work the back side of these islands where there is a current break with poppers and streamers.

Islands (Below water): Key in on the shallows with adjacent deep runs and areas with aquatic vegetation, larger fish will wait in deeper water and ambush these areas.

Fallen Trees, Rocks, Bridge Piers, any form of Eddy: Floating streamers or nymphs past these current breaks often produces. Do not forget to work the front eddy as well, most anglers forget about this one.

Rocky Shoreline: Working crayfish patterns as well as nymphs can be effective in this water.

Underwater Vegetation: Work small streamers in these areas.

Popular Fox River Prey: shiners, chubs, craws, leeches, aquatic worms, stoneflies, mayflies, caddis, dragonflies, damsels (crawlers), and Dobsonfly larvae.
